A new venture has been launched on Saturday in Kozhikode.
The District Collector’s Internship Program (DCIP),the brain child of Kozhikode District Collector N.Prasanth is claimed to be a project for social well-being.
Dr.M.K.Muneer,Minister for Social Justice, while inaugurating the program at Collector’s Conference Hall in Kozhikode, said it is first of its kind in India.
He further said that each and every individual has an instinct for doing some social service.However, many can’t engage due to their busy schedules.
With this program ,professionals in various sectors can join and contribute their service and get recognized in their social life.
Dr. Muneer launched the logo of the DCIP.
The main objective of the project is to promote young minds,having some virtues like compassion and benign and bring them to the mainstream. By doing so,their service can be used for the upliftment of the poor and marginalized community.
The project is being implemented with the support of like-minded persons and individuals.
Collector N.Prasanth said ,”This program enables a person to complete a challenging and responsible task,successfully. It also equips the fellows to get the experience of various stages of government functioning.Homes for destitute,old-age homes,palliative care centers,institutes for deferentially abled persons,mental health institutes,etc.will get priority in this project",said the collector.
There are two internships,planned for this program;Senior Development Fellow (SDF),and Junior Development Fellow (JDF).Professionals between the age group of 21 and 45 can become SDF while the age criteria for JDF is 18-35 years.

The selected interns can report to the collector,directly.District Collector will issue certificates to the fellows those who complete the internship,successfully.
The project ensures the youth’s creative involvement and contributions in governmental projects.Modern technology can be utilized for the benefit of downtrodden people. The DCIP, being supported by the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, is a social service project and no remuneration or allowances will be provided for the fellows-District Collector N.Prasanth clarified.
